Got mail

These are my 3 favourite fan mail letters

Ile de la Reunion1.  Dear Ian: Me and my partner love watching your travel programmes more than any other show . We live in America and are thinking of getting married in the our garden, next Fall. Will you marry us ? Also when we are on our Honeymoon you can stay in our house for the two weeks and use the car… The surrounding area is lush grass and swampland with loads of wild life which I think would make a great programme. What do you think ?

Trust me, you don’t want me in your house when you’re not there …

2. This was a letter for a 14 year old boy that was 25 pages, the bit below is just a small snippet to show you what the tone of the letter was like all the way through;

Dear Ian, Do you work out or go to the gym on a regular basic ???  Because I notice that you where getting a bit fat in the Mongolia programme… Come on , whats happening ???

Malyasia3.  Dear Ian. I love watching you on the Travel Channel every night, I love the way you present the show , I would love to meet you, because I know that we would get on like ‘a house on fire’. I don’t know if you are married or have a girlfriend and quite frankly I don’t care… Meet me at Derby station on Sunday 24th at 2 pm. Come on dimples, if you don’t risk anything in your life, you’ll never know…

There are some things in life that you don’t have to risk because you do know…. Cuckoo… Cuckoo.  Also if you are sending a picture of yourself to impress someone as a rule send the best one ??? Not one where you have been caught by the flash and you look like your from the Village of  The Damned. I sold the letter to a friend for a tenner 2 years ago have seen him since.

BorneoBest YouTube comment:  How on earth did Ian Wright get the job as a travel presenter??? He has to know people in high places but he is really annoying. I want to kick him up the arse , really hard…

When’s your new season of GlobeTrekker gonna start? You seem careless about the clothes you wear on your shows. Is it because you try to keep it simple or you just don’t care?

  • coaltrain

Ian, I really enjoy globetrekker and you are my favorite host.I like your carefree attitude and your willingness to try anything, you are braver than me.I was amazed to see your paintings and sketches. not amazed like, I cant believe that goofball can paint. but more like amazed that anyone can see somthing in thier head and transfer that to canvas. I have no artistic talent at all.I have contacted Chats Palace without much luck, to inquire about your paintings. I believe that they are still remodeling and are closed. are your paintings for sale to the public? and who could I contact about them? I hope you are out filming and enjoying the world.
    many safe journeys, Russ

    Ian,
What’s up with that baby orangutan in that dodgy sad looking crate?

  • Liam

Why can’t you get started on your own show? You’re obviously by far the best presenter that travel television has ever seen. It was great with you and your co-hosts. Raw, local, really about the spirit of adventure of discovery and ‘jumping into the stream to see where it goes’. Now, there’s a bunch of sterile, dust free, seemingly posh people showing us what sponsors tell them to. Travel TV has become a shill for big corporations that run theme parks, cruise ships and the like. It’s not travel TV,… it’s horribly thinly veiled infomercials! Come back, Ian! We need you!!! I have to go weep now.

Hey Ian -you’re mad. Is it true you support English Champion Socccer Club, Norwich Town?

Ian, I’m flying to London for 4 days in 2 weeks. Then I will fly to Oslo and the plan is to go there and find a job (since is legal for foreign people in the summer). I have double nationality, I am Mexican and U.S. Citizen. This is the situation. I have only about300 dlls to survive and I don’t have a flat in Oslo, but at the beginning I can stay at a couchsurfer place. I am diabetic and I will take insuline with me but I have to eat often. I have travel like this before, but before I became insuline. Everything is against me hahahahhaha I know!. The question is: What would you do?

  • Rosyalfredo

Hello my dear Ian. We are a Mexican couple (Rosa Maria (Rosy) and Alfredo = Rosyalfredo) living at Puebla, Puebla, 125 km from Capital Mexico City. We are your fans since 1999 and enjoy so much your TV show, congratulations!!!
Our Cable TV company broadcasted “lonely Planet”, but 3 years ago, broadcast as “Trotamundos” (globetrotter) with many presenter as Megan Mc Cormick, Justine Shapiro, Matt Young but they are not as fun as you are, and besides the Spanish translator is another one speaking different spanish acent. We loved earlier shows. So please tell us what way we can get these TV programs where you are the only one presenter, certyainly in Spanish.
Before sayin goodbye there are 3 important thing we’d like yow know:
1.-We like you very much, and to hold your hand would be a wonderful experience timelife. Its’ a great wish in our mind.
2.-Rosa Maria (they call her Rosy) always is in good mood similar at yours. She always is smiling and laughing
2.- Excuse our grmmatical mistakes. We dont speak English very well. jajjajajaja!!!!

I enjoy your humor and adventuresome spirit very much. Watching you on Globe Trekker is a favorite of mine. Thanks for giving me experiences I can’t have firsthand right now. You’ve given me dreams for the future.

Loved all your shows; why can’t we get any of the new ones in the US? I know your Wright Out of Bounds was cut short by the Travel Channel because you were visiting countries that our State Department considers rogue states/state funded terroristic states; but I would have liked to have seen them. Did your programs have any political slant to them? I’d love to see your production company make them available on DVD. Thanks!
