I find it extrordinary that there is still a country in this world where it is ILLEGAL for a woman to drive a car, OR even use public transport ??? How can this ever be ? Forget religion , this is a prime example of complete male power-supremacy on a mammoth scale. So my absolute admiration goes out to those brave women in Saudi Arabia who are actively protesting by driving on the streets of Riyadh in open defyance of their goverment and its oppressive laws. All this, with the full knowledge that their actions may well lead to arrest. Now that takes incredable guts and as one woman explained ” A downpour always starts with a few drops of water…” And this amazing act of defiance was reported on the news as a ‘quiet revolution’…behave ! , there is nothing quiet about it, these women are taking their lives into their own hands, risking imprisionment in a Saudi jail, which has got be hell, especialy as a woman ! I dread to think…. These women are modern day Suffragette’s and should rightly demand the full respect of every decent human being on the planet.

New Orleans. Another man-made disaster. This is what happens when corners are cut in constrution, by using cheaper, inferior materials to build sea walls and levies in order to protect poorer neighbourhoods and in a part of the world that is continuously battered by devastating hurricanes. A contastrrophy waiting to happen.
People always say.. ” I wish I had been to New Orleans before Katrina”. But trust me, NOW is the time to visit one of the best cities in America, if not the world. New Orleans needs tourist to help to rebuild and kept its unique culture alive. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the city is on its way to its former glory but it is still a fine line between failure and success.
Apart from the disgusting minimum response to the hurricane from Bush’s government, people are still displaced to this day !, without means or funds to return and rebuild their lives in their own neighbourhoods, surely this should be a basic human right when living in one of the richest countries on the planet ? The fear is, that these poorer areas will conveniently be replaced and ’regenerated’ into richer, middle-class zones , thus possibly losing the very essence of the place and the whole point in going to New Orleans ! Where in America can a city boast of hundreds of years of history, deeply influenced by European, African, North and South American culture , where music, dance, food, spontaneous fiestas, the 2nd line and even voodoo, make-up the extraordinary hallmark of the New Orleans, traditions passed down through generations of families living in these wards. So lets all get down there and PARTY ! , because this city is still KICKING..

I’ve seen lots of your videos and of all the people on Earth, your WORLDVIEW is the one I’m most curious about…via whatever medium – book, documentary, whatever. Have you revealed yourself – apart from that almost naked calendar? I’m interested in just a few things, like what do you think about globalization, energy, wealth distribution, governance, warmongering for oil, health, culture, human longevity, Earth’s carrying capacity, education, biodiversity loss, economics, the carbon footprint of travel, human population growth, climate change, journalism, the end of history, the trajectory of civilization, you know, just the typical stuff that must be going through your mind as you’re covered with mosquitoes while wrestling a 300-pounder covered with olive oil as you anticipate your dinner of raw yak eyeballs.
Oh – and did I mention food, diet, water, recreational drugs, family, and happiness? No? Well, let’s add them if you don’t mind.
