I’ve seen lots of your videos and of all the people on Earth, your WORLDVIEW is the one I’m most curious about…via whatever medium – book, documentary, whatever. Have you revealed yourself – apart from that almost naked calendar? I’m interested in just a few things, like what do you think about globalization, energy, wealth distribution, governance, warmongering for oil, health, culture, human longevity, Earth’s carrying capacity, education, biodiversity loss, economics, the carbon footprint of travel, human population growth, climate change, journalism, the end of history, the trajectory of civilization, you know, just the typical stuff that must be going through your mind as you’re covered with mosquitoes while wrestling a 300-pounder covered with olive oil as you anticipate your dinner of raw yak eyeballs.

dear wright,
i´m your fan from brazil since I saw you on TV, back in 1999, when I was living in California.
and after many years looking for a way to reach you, i found your blog, so i´m very happy!!
Ok, I must say that wasn´t my life´s priority, however I´m wrinting down in your blog and I feel great!
thank you for being a great “trekker” and I´d like to invite you to visit chapada diamantina national park, down here in the state of bahia, brazil.

Its Awesome the way you travel, interact with different people from different country allover the world and the way u present the show. In my school days I used to fight over your shows with my mom and sister as coz they busy with their soaps at that time.
It’s my dream that you will be my travelguru and I’ll travel with you in the Himalayas.
It would be my pleasure come Indian soon and meet you face to face.

Hi Ian!
Thank you for saving my life. I’ve just cured very heavy and bad disease, partly with doctors’ help, partly with your inspiration. So I thank you for saving human’s life.
I saw you first on TV in some weeks before I got to the hospital. I enjoyed your Globe Trekker shows and admitted that you’re really a good actor. Thanks God it wasn’t cancer or something like that, but it was a hard illness that some people can’t go through. I was almost depressed and tired, treatment didn’t help a lot, and once I remembered you. After surfing the Net I got here on your website (sure there couldn’t be any Globe Trekker or even TV in the hospital) and learned so many interesting things about you! I was really surprised to know that you are such a good painter! You can beleive or not, but I spent lots of time looking at your paintings, photos, reading your posts, watching you in series, and I understood that if you’re so happy in your life, if you even look lightened because of your happiness, than there is something in this world to live for!
I beleived. Really, you looked for me like a symbol of happy, healthy life. You inspired me, and now I feel much better. Soon I will be almost alright. And that’s all because of you, your jokes, your smile, your imagination, your soul and your kindness… I’ve just come here to thank you.
Wish you much more inspiration for yourself, new nice places to visit, pretty people to see and cool things to do!

P.S.: probably from my unusual English you could notice that it isn’t my native language. That’s true. I’m from Kiev, Ukraine, and I think my country can be an interesting place for your journey. Ukrainians aren’t as much wild as they look like, no, we are even kind and polite… So, I guess you can think about Ukraine because I’m already thinking about the UK! =)

Hi Ian, I have always been your great fan and still the postcard you sent me some 10 years back is showcased on my table, you are just 5 years old in that postcard photograph wearing a school dress with naughty smile. You have always been an inspiration to me for traveling.

I still remember that when we bought our first color TV with cable connection your “lonely planet show” on discovery channel used to be my favorite. We recently watched your show “Invite Mr. Wright” in India with bolywood actor Arshad Warsi, my wife and myself enjoyed it very much and we were laughing like anything.

I believe that one day I would be able to say you Hello face to face if you come to India, so ping me whenever you have plans for India.

I would love to get a little information from Ian Wright about his Globe Trekker episodes in general, Georgia and Armenia in particular. Do you have at least a small crew to run cameras when you are in such godforsaken places? I love this episode so much I have recorded it and watch it over and over. Armenia is just astonishing!
